Artist Statement
At its most basic core, I believe to create a work of art means unfolding a process of circumstance. At any specific given moment in time, we see the world in a vividly detailed and particular light. That moment, defined by place and time, elements and forces, is suspended in our memory. As we mature, the perspective of a past memory is altered, as we ourselves have changed. Change can be so constant that you wake up one day and do not even realize life is better or worse off than before. Change can also happen in an instant, a single life altering moment can make you a different person entirely and forever. I create to capture these ideas.
I have always been fascinated with how art can positively enhance people’s everyday life. Art, as a passion, began for me in middle school and continued on through high school. I attended The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and recently graduated with a degree in Architectural Studies. Although it was not a fine art education, it was a rigorous design school curriculum that enhanced my ability to capture the essence of space through perspective, lighting and color palette. I emerged with a heightened sense of appreciation for fabricated splendor along with natural beauty. I went forth with my art, in hopes to incorporate these concepts into my work.
